Bringing Home Baby!

After watching the clock all night and attempting feeds it was finally 7am and only 2 more hours until Daddy was allowed back in!!!

The midwives came round and one nice person actually made me some toast in the morning! I had to change the baby's nappy and I suddenly realised I had NO idea what the hell to do! My friend from antenatal class was on the same ward so I text her and she came and showed me how to do it! Easier than I thought! Haha.

The midwife came to check me, I guess to make sure I wasn't bleeding too much and poked my belly to see if my uterus was contracting back down. All was fine and they said I should be able to go home today! Fab!

When Daddy arrived we sat staring at the baby and cuddling him, wondering what we should call our son! The bounty people came and took some photographs of our little beauty, less than 24 hours old.

Tiny feet, less than 24 hours old

My baby boy, less than 24 hours old

The newborn hearing screening lady came and checked the baby's hearing in both ears. He passed both sides! Phew.

The baby was examined by the paediatrician and that was horrible to watch! She had to pretend to drop him! Ahhhh! He passed all tests and she was not concerned with him at all :-)

The midwife came and went through all of our discharge papers. She witnessed the baby feeding briefly and was happy for us to go. Although I was slightly hesitant about the breastfeeding I was more than happy to go home! So I got all packed up and ready to leave! We were eventually allowed to depart and we made the journey home with our tiny bundle. Driving with that tiny person in the car feels so different! Scary!!

Ready to go home!

Of course the first thing I did when I got home was to go in the shower and scrub the hospital off of me! Then got ready for some visits from family. Today was grandparents only!

Meeting Great Nana Sylvia

My Nana - now Great Nana Sylvia came to visit & Oliver's Mum - now Nanny came to visit.

To be honest it was a bit of a nightmare as the baby was crying for food, I didn't want to do it in front of them & all they wanted was for me & Oliver to name the baby!!!

I sent them into the other room for a while whilst I tried to feed my son. It wasn't going well so I decided that I'd ask the midwife for help the next day.

When he was sleeping they came back and asked again about names. We then decided to go to name choice number 1 for a boy.

Jack.

Welcome home, my son, Jack.
