The First Year: Week 23

I'm Blogging baby's first year, the milestones, the good, the bad & the ugly! Our journey together from birth to one!

23 weeks today

Age:

Today Jack is 23 weeks and 6 days old!

Size:

Still wearing 3-6 month clothes! Due for weigh in next week! 

Appearance:

A lot of people are saying he looks like me. He is a proper little chunky baby now too. Hair is growing & he's gorgeous!

Milestones:

We hit the biggie this week!!!!!!!!! 

The first roll!!!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!!!!!! 

He rolled to his left, completely didn't expect him to go all the way over and he did and got his arm out! Just like that! I didn't get it on video but here is the photo from seconds after he got onto his front:

This meant that we hit another milestone this week too. We had to put the other side on his cot because I didn't want him rolling into my bed unexpectedly. I wasn't ready for this step but as always Jack has spoken. (Definitely not looking forward to the next step - cot in own room!)

He's definitely mastering the art of holding his bottle too! Must see about getting him some handles!

No other major milestones hit this week, but he's definitely mastered the rolling. Now to master rolling the other way & rolling back! All in good time!

Things we did this week:

This week was half term for a lot of people and so the usual activities were closed. So we had a bit of a different week. 

Monday we went to my Auntie for coffee and then to my Nan for lunch and my cousin that has recently moved to Wales visited so that was nice! It was here at a nappy change surrounded by lots of people that Jack decided to do his first roll. Everyone clapped and cheered and I got a little teary eyed. I was sad that his Daddy wasn't there :-(

Tuesday we met up with my friend that was my Bridesmaid and her new baby. It was so nice to see her and the babies got to play together. We went out for a nice little walk and lunch.

Wednesday was very exciting as we got to go to a party! It was the Halloween party we had been looking forward to for a long time! It was with our baby group friends, who have become some really great friends. Really love being with all of them and of course we dressed the babies up!

Thursday was a trip to the zoo with Jack and his Nanny (Oliver's Mum) we met her there as it was Boo at the Zoo (half term fun!) yes I know Jack is too young for it but I am not haha. Unfortunately it was raining and the rain just got worse and worse. The soft play area was full as were the cafes so we (after 2.5 Hours) gave up and came back to my house. Jack showed off his rolling skills and we warmed up again.

Friday was a day I had to go to the doctors so my Mum came and sat with Jack as it wasn't appropriate to take him! We then went shopping and came home. A nice relaxed day. 

Saturday was the most fun day of all as the sun came out and we went to the zoo with Daddy! This time it was Halloween day and so Jack dressed up again (making the most of that babygro!) and I wore my accessory once again!

Sunday was a relaxed day at home, however he was indeed Mr. Grumpy today.

Best thing this week:

The best thing this week was learning to roll! Definitely a proud moment and fun watching him do it. However I'm not sure how prepared I was for the amount I'll have to roll him back! 

Mummy's thoughts & diary:

This was a nice week, we did lots, got out a lot and caught up with lots of people. Things are going really well at the moment and I am really happy! 

Was a bit sad having to put the cot side on but I know it's for the best. Jack has really done well getting into the cot and hasn't been in our bed for a while, not even in the mornings! 

The next step will be him moving into his own room, but I'm in no rush for that! 

Another big thing coming our way is weaning. I don't think he's ready yet but I don't think I am ready! It's all everyone is talking about at the moment but I am in complete denial. Maybe I will feel differently soon. 

I just feel that we have finally got our routine and weaning will mess everything up again! :-(
