The First Year: Week 24

I'm Blogging baby's first year, the milestones, the good, the bad & the ugly! Our journey together from birth to one!

Photo of the week:

24 weeks today!

Age:
Today Jack is 24 weeks and 6 days old!

Size:
I had Jack weighed this week and he was 17lbs 7oz. He is doing very well and is running along the 50th centile beautifully. Hope he stays on that now! I measured him and he has grown! He is now 68cm long. I am guessing this is pretty average as the sizing on 3-6 months clothes goes "up to 18lbs" and 68cm. Perfect... although this does mean my baby needs to go onto the 6-9 month size soon! I can't believe how quickly this is going!

Appearance:
He has started to grow some more hair this week!

Milestones:
Having mastered the roll (to his left) Jack is now working on sitting.

Practising sitting! (fell immediately afterwards!)
This photo was taken in a very quick moment and he sat like that for literally seconds, however he is getting better and better at it. Don't think it will be too long!

He is also starting to get on the move. I was very surprised to find him here as he was laying on his back on the changing mat when I left him to go and get my bag!

On the move!

Jack has also discovered my phone this week. It is yummy!

Baby Selfies!
No other major milestones however weaning should start soon... eeeek....

Things we did this week:
This week started off with our Monday session at baby massage. Timed it right with feeds this time so he was much happier and made it through the session. He was rolling all over the place and didn't get much massage done. 2 more sessions to go!
Cutest thing ever
Tuesday started with a walk in the park. We have all decided it's time to quit the morning baby group for real! It's only meant to run from 0-6 months, and there are so many brand new babies there it is kind of boring and feel a bit out of place there now. So I suggested we meet in the park on a Tuesday morning before heading to the children's centre for lunch/coffee before afternoon group which is 0-24 months! So go for a walk we did! It was really nice however I started to feel a bit icky. Got a cold coming on... greeeatttt. Went to afternoon group, was nice and quiet! Had a nice time. Borrowed a book on weaning off of my friend. In. Total. Denial!

A walk in the park

So Autumnal <3

Wednesday I was supposed to meet another friend and go to Buggy Blitz. The weather had other ideas and the class got cancelled, so we didn't go. I was laying in bed, starting to feel sorry for myself and decided that I regretted not signing up for the Jolly Babies class that was available. They are starting to do Xmas songs and I know Jack loves when I sing to him. I randomly phoned the lady and asked if by any chance she had any space on the course. Fully expecting a no I don't know what even made me phone that day. She sounded very taken aback and said that somebody had just called her to cancel their place. It must have been fate! She said I could go along and so I did. Jack absolutely loved it and my closest friends were already in the class so that was great. Was so lucky to get in as there was a waiting list. Oops! So that's me booked in every Wednesday until 16th December! When I got home I felt yuk! Cough, Cold, Yuk. Tried to get Jack to nap so I could nap. He had other ideas. Like grabbing my face!

Trying to nap but getting face grabbed!

Remember remember the 5th of November! Thursday was fireworks night. We didn't go to any fireworks or celebrate in any way! Instead we went swimming, out for lunch with a friend and her baby and then to baby rhyme time at the library! It was a lovely day. This was a picture of Jack in the pub we had lunch in, I don't know why but it's one of my favourite photographs. Beautiful boy!

That face!
Friday was an early start! I picked another friend up (only writing this I realise how many amazing friends I have made since having Jack!) and we went up to my Mum's for the day. I got my car MOT'd (ouch!) We took the boys to baby gym - it was really nice going together! Lots of fun!

Jack must have said something funny!

We also went to the american base and had lunch there. For the first time out I put Jack in one of the high chairs. He was really good in it, but it was particularly supportive. *Sigh* easing us both in to this weaning journey....

Food time soon?!?!?!
Saturday was an unexpectedly pleasant day! We weren't going to do much but we ended up doing a day out with the same friend from above, her baby and husband. Finally, after 6 months we all managed to sit down and have a meal out together! We went to Nando's it was fabulous. I got some new boots, and then we went to mothercare on the way home. I picked up some bits for weaning and it's made me feel a bit more positive about it all!

Weaning is coming.....
Also picked up some handles for the bottles - now Jack can feed himself!

Clever boy!

Sunday was a day out at my Nana's (Jack's Great Nana's) and she made us dinner and some of the family popped in so that was nice!

Meeting our cat - yes there is a cat there!

Best thing this week:
Really enjoyed the walk in the park this week!!!!!!!!! Was so nice to get a few of us together to do 5 laps! :-)

Mummy's thoughts & diary:
This week was a busy week, which was also rather draining as I began feeling a cold coming which has got worse and worse as the week has progressed. Unfortunately Jack is STILL snotty (since week 18 on and off!)  I really wish his snotty nose would clear up!

Started off the week feeling rubbish about baby being 24 weeks, the age they recommend you think about weaning. I told the health visitor on Tuesday that I didn't think he was ready and she told me just do it when I think it is best. I am now starting to wonder if he is ready and it's only me that isn't ready! Seeing as I have bought the pots and spoons, I am going to have a read of the books and take it from there. Maybe start weaning at 26 weeks!

Watch this space.
