Today Jack is 25 weeks and 6 days old (almost 6 months!)

No weigh in this week (next weigh in at 28 weeks)

No major changes this week!

Milestones:

Huge milestone this week!!! Baby's first ever taste of food! The weaning has begun!!

Jack became too big to lie down in the pram so now we are front facing pushchair mode! Eeek!

Things we did this week:

This week started with a walk in the park. We met one of our friends and did a few laps before baby massage. I wore my new boots! Jack decided to stick out his tongue in the wind. His tongue is very long. I couldn't capture it but he didn't put it away all morning!

We went to baby massage and hung out for a bit. I sat him in the high chair there to see what it was like. He seemed to enjoy it.

After that we met another friend for more walking, the boots killed my feet. Pain & blisters. Oops! 

I started to get a yuk cough and feel unwell so snuggled up in the evening.

Tuesday was planned for another walk with the buggy crew in the morning. We met up and did some laps, then headed to the children's centre for lunch and coffee. I was cough cough cough. In the afternoon we went to baby group & I coughed coughed coughed.

That evening Oliver's Mum and Sister came round for dinner as she was back from university for the week. I think it was at this point I lost it. I had to admit I was ill :-(

Wednesday I woke up in a mess. I'd been awake all night coughing & then I coughed some more. My temperature was 38.1 and I ached from head to toe. I thought I had an infection so thought I'd better go to the doctors. Managed to get an appointment. Nothing wrong yet but to go back if I feel better. So we had a pretty lazy day that day. Daddy stayed home too to help as I wouldn't have coped on my own, but he started coming down with it too :-(

Thursday I decided I needed to be better. I felt a bit better but still had the cough. Spent the morning relaxing but then decided enough was enough. Cooked up some batches of food for Jack's dinner and decided today was the day for weaning to begin!

I decided we needed to get out of the house so I got ready & we went to rhyme time at the library. This was when the pushchair went front facing! He seemed ok in it & fell asleep. 

At the library he was so attentive, son into it all and it was such a lovely session. However the cough got the better of me and I had a massive coughing fit in the middle of it & she stopped the whole thing to get me water. It was mortifying. Yes. I realised I should have stayed in bed!!!!

The next day I took Jack up to my Mum's. I don't know what possessed me to take him to baby gym but I did and it was nice but I was feeling so crap. The pressure in my head has built up and I now think I have sinusitis. Yuk! The rest of the day was spent with me being in a bad mood with my head & getting iller. Jack was a good boy :-)

Today he ate parsnip! This was him helping himself with the spoon! He didn't like it & didn't eat any!

Saturday was another trip up to my Mum with my Nan as Oliver was out for the day! I felt rancid & found it hard. Definitely in need of antibiotics! Will be ringing the surgery Monday morning for sure! Today's food was banana. None of this went down either!

Also tried Jack with some water. He didn't enjoy that either but he did enjoy chewing on the cup! 

Today (Sunday) was a day at home. Stayed in all day just waiting for the surgery to open tomorrow. My head hurts too much! Sweet potato was on the menu today and Jack just looked at me as if to say why do you keep doing this to me!? Weaning is not much fun at the moment!

Best thing this week:

The best thing this week was seeing how much Jack has changed. He was so alert at rhyme time and he was so interested in what she was saying and the songs. It was also good to start weaning (I guess) however it's not the most fun!

Mummy's thoughts & diary:

Ok so the moment I had been dreading has arrived. We started weaning! It is going to be a long slow process I feel and I am not sure how I feel about it at the moment. Have just been great so set in our routine with bottles, but hey I guess he has to grow up and eat sometime! (it's going too quick!)

So far hasn't been successful but will just do one taste of food a day for a couple of weeks and see how it goes!

Have literally been feeling rancid this week and it has not been the most fun week. My mind has wanted to get out and do stuff but my body is broken. On Wednesday morning when I woke up feeling so ill I was so relieved when my husband said he would stay home to help look after Jack. I don't think I would have coped otherwise. Was just a shame he then caught the illness too and we all felt sorry for ourselves.

Can't wait to go to the doctors tomorrow. Hopefully get some antibiotics for Sinusitis (had this feeling before!) and then feel better in a couple of days! Need to get back out there!
