The First Year: Week 22

I'm Blogging baby's first year, the milestones, the good, the bad & the ugly! Our journey together from birth to one!

Photo of the week:

22 weeks today!

Age:
Today baby Jack is 22 weeks and 6 days old. Which I can't believe because it's going too quick!

Size:
He is still wearing size 3-6 months but I bought him a few 6-9 which he has started wearing because I like it. Otherwise everything else still fits I've just got bored!

Appearance:
Everyone saying he's starting to look like me a lot more now and he's got my eyes. I think he's really starting to look like Jack now. He's getting his own personality which is just lovely!

Milestones:
Still trying to roll over but no major developmental milestones this week! I have a feeling we are very very close!

Won't be long now....

We progressed to the big bath this week as Jack is way too big for the baby bath. He absolutely loved it as he was able to kick around so much!

Snuggles after bathtime!

First time sitting in his high chair! In a few weeks we will be getting ready to start weaning, which I am in total and utter denial about!!!! However I thought I'd sit Jack in his high chair to see how it works, what its like and how well he is holding his head. He stared at his toy, sucked his thumb and wasn't overly impressed! I don't think we will be starting at 24 weeks - going to follow the NHS advice and wait until he is fully ready for the experience.

Preparing for weaning!

Things we did this week:
This week started off with a baby massage session on Monday. I didn't want to go to baby massage and ended up getting suckered in! It was ok but I think Jack felt my hesitation as he decided to tolerate exactly 4 minutes of it before he kicked off big time! He screamed the place down and set off all of the other babies!! Oops. 3 more sessions of that to go! Afterwards we went to meet our swimming friends from aquanatal however the midwife wasn't there which was a shame.

Tuesday was a day at baby group. We did the morning and afternoon session and then came home. Always tires me out but it was nice to see our friends!

Wednesday was a rainy day so we got in the car and went to see some work colleagues. One of the doctors that I worked closely with was very impressed with Jack and said he is a very bright boy. He hung on every word she said!

Visiting Dr. T.

Our visit must have been very stimulating because he fell asleep on the changing mat!

How does this happen!?

When he woke from that snooze I read a book to him & he really really enjoyed it. This was the first time he's actually taken any interest in his books!

Loving his book!

Thursday we went swimming as it had been a while & Jack really seemed to enjoy it! He was smiling and kicking his legs a lot. In the afternoon we went to rhyme time, but it was a bit of a fail as he was tired. He enjoyed another bath in the big boy bath and we surprised daddy with a fun baby gro afterwards, Game of Thrones style!

Game of Thrones Baby Gro :-)

Friday was a shopping trip to Watford with our friend baby Oliver. We had a nice mooch around the shops and Jack got some socks and a nice all in one with stars on. I seem to have developed a thing for stars! We had lunch in pizza express and it was lovely.

Shopping with Mummy again!

Saturday we spent the whole day at home, basically cleaning. Jack must have found this very boring as he fell asleep on the floor.

Again!? How!?

On Sunday all of the grandparents came round for dinner & I cooked roast chicken and roast pork belly. Everyone had a lovely day!

Jack and Daddy :-)

Best thing this week:
The best thing this week was seeing how happy Jack is and seeing how amazing Oliver is with him. It's so nice to see such love and hear the baby giggling when they play together. I am one lucky girl to have these two in my life.

He loves his Daddy so much :-)

Mummy's thoughts & diary:
Have said most above, I can't wait until baby massage course is done. It's not something that ever interested me and I didn't particularly want to take part however I said I'd do it with a friend. That friend didn't end up going but I never did tell her that I was only doing it because she wanted to. Luckily I have 2 other friends that go and I know everyone else from baby group so it is nice to socialise with them afterwards.

Weaning is coming and I am in complete denial. I am dreading the fact that I am going to have to cook. With the rocky start that we had with breastfeeding and the fact we are now settled into a wonderful routine with bottle feeding I feel like I have just got everything on track and now they are throwing something new into the mix!!! Weaning is all that my friends can talk about at the moment and I find myself not engaging in the conversation. Jack will tell me when he is ready! He has told me everything else. Until then I'm happy to not start weaning!
