The First Year: Week 21

I'm Blogging baby's first year, the milestones, the good, the bad & the ugly! Our journey together from birth to one!

Photo of the week:

21 weeks today

Age:
Today Jack is 21 weeks and 6 days old.

Size:
He is still wearing 3-6 months size clothes and I think he will for a little while yet. Measured him again, still 66cm long! :-)

Appearance:
Not much has changed this past week!

Milestones:
This week we haven't hit any major developmental milestones, but we did have some firsts!

First time sleeping in the cot! Yep, my big boy decided that he was too big for the Moses basket and just like that he made the transition to his big boy cot! It is so scary how fast he is growing up. I still have the cot next to me with the side off, he is ok for now as he is not rolling but I am already sad for when the side has to go on. Can't bear the thought of him leaving to go into his own room!

First night in his cot!

He woke up happy!

First time being left by Mummy! This one broke my heart a little, but I had to leave Jack to go to a meeting regarding my return to work. He stayed with his Great Nana, and I only left him for 1 hour and 50 minutes! I missed him loads, it was so strange.
Just before leaving him!
First time on a bus! - This was interesting as it was my first time on a bus for a looong time too! Still it wasn't as bad as I thought. Jack, of course, slept through the whole journey!

First time on the bus
He also had his first time in a professional photoshoot. She took a lot of pictures and out of them all I only liked one! He wouldn't look at the camera, only at his Mummy, so I will forever know he was smiling at me in this picture. Love!

He wouldn't look at the camera, he was focused only on me!

Still trying to roll over!
Nearly there....

Things we did this week:
This week started with a special treat - the special treat was Daddy being home from work! We decided to go for lunch and a walk and to some shops. We went to Pizza Express and had a lovely meal and then we went to the park and saw a black swan! We had a lovely walk, visited some shops and headed home to relax.

Propped up in the buggy!

Tuesday - Daddy was back to work so we did our usual and went to the baby group. We, for the first time in a while managed to get all of the babies together and get a photo. They were all tired so we didn't manage to get them in age order as usual, but we dressed them all in GAP gear because we are cool like that!

Wednesday was the day I had to leave Jack! So I went to my Nana's and got him all settled, headed to work to see my boss and discuss returning. He was a very  good boy for his Great Nana and when I got back to him (1h 50m) later - her sister and two friends were there and Jack was having a lovely time. It was strange to leave him and he definitely noticed when I returned! I was greeted with a lovely smile, it almost made me cry. We then went out for lunch with Nana and her friends, so that was nice!

Thursday was a trip to town in the morning with the bestie. We walked down to town as it wasn't raining and walked around the shops We stopped at Costa to refuel the boys and change their nappies. We were headed to rhyme time in the afternoon and time was pressing on so we decided to get the bus back to the village. We made it in time and had a lovely afternoon at rhyme time.

The boys in Costa!
Friday was a day at home but we had lots of visitors. My Mum , Nana and bestie and his Mum came to visit. The boys played on the floor and we had a nice time.

Boys in Stripes!
Saturday was an extra special day as we went on a little outing. Oliver was away for the day at a puzzle gathering so we went to meet my childhood friend to see her for one last time before she has a baby of her own! She was very pregnant (2 weeks until due date!) and it was a lovely day.

Sunday was a fairly quiet day, took Jack out for a walk and we tried out his new footmuff. It was brilliant! Then when we got home his Nanny (Oliver's Mum) came to visit.

This makes the buggy soooo much more comfy!

5 MONTHS old TODAY! 18.10.15

And another week was done :-(

Best thing this week:
The best thing this week has to be seeing my childhood friend, however there are no pics!

Mummy's thoughts & diary:
This week has been a nice week, made a few developments!
Was horrible realising that baby was actually too big for his basket, but he is getting to be a big boy now. I was really pleased that we managed to put him straight into the cot though, because I was wondering how well he would make the transition. Turns out I didn't have to worry.

It was a huge relief this week to sort out my future work plans. I had been extremely worried about this however again, I probably shouldn't have stressed too much. My boss was very very understanding of my needs and has helped me immensely to balance my work and home life. I am going to be doing 2 shifts a week and then 1 shift every other weekend. So I will have 5 days at home one week and 4 days the next. I could not have asked for anything more and it has made me dread going back to work less, although I will be taking on a new job role. Not going back until June! WOOOHOOO!

Leaving Jack was horrible and fine at the same time. Although I was not away from him for any long period of time and my Nana did not have to do a nappy change or feed, it was a step towards being without him. I actually hated every minute of it and I never ever want to leave him, however I know I have to and this was a start. I must admit it was very odd not having the buggy and a tonne of stuff with me!
