The First Year: Week 20

I'm Blogging baby's first year, the milestones, the good, the bad & the ugly! Our journey together from birth to one!

Photo of the week:

20 weeks today!

Age: Today Master Jack is 20 weeks and 6 days old!

Size: He was weighed today and weighs in at 16lbs 1! The health visitor also measured him today & he is in proportion with his height now (still 66cm!)

Appearance: I have noticed him getting more beautiful every day. He's taking lots in & just turning into the most gorgeous baby boy!

Milestones:
Again not a great week for developmental milestones but we did have a first:

Jack went on his first trip to the zoo!!!

First visit to the zoo!

He's still trying to perfect the roll. Can get all the way over but can't get his arm out!

Trying to roll.....

We also had a "last" this week too. This is Jack having his last ever bottle of expressed breast milk. I have now stopped producing bottled milk. I feel proud that I can say this at 20 weeks! But from now he will only be drinking from the mummy tap when he needs to!

Things we did this week:
Daddy was off this week so we spent the week doing nice things with him.

Monday was a complete rest & pyjama day (hence weekly photo we are in pj's!) it was a rainy day but it was ruined by the fact we had to out to clinic for Jack to have his BCG injection in the evening. He was a very brave boy & only did the sad lip then smiled at the nurse. No more jabs now until he is 1!

Tuesday - Daddy had to go for a conference in London so we went to baby group, weigh in and baby group, then we visited our new friend who has just had a baby! He was so tiny! It was a nice day!

Sleeping through baby group!

Wednesday was a bit of a dull weather day so we decided to go to a shopping centre and walk around and go for lunch. We had a really nice day out - just being out and about as a family is so lovely. It's so nice having Daddy around!

The baby change there was really cool and had a jumperoo so Jack had a go in that!

Testing out the Jumperoo

Thursday was an exciting day as it was lovely weather so we decided to go to the zoo. I was super excited and the zoo is not very far from our house! We had the best day together. I loved every minute of it from start to finish. We got some beautiful photographs and it is a day I will never forget. It was like the dream come true.

Jack's new friend, Larry the Lemur

Friday was a quiet day at home and then all of Oliver's friends came over in the evening. Jack was a very good boy and stayed sleeping soundly!

Saturday we went to another shopping centre. After 20mins trying to park we regretted it but had a little walk around! Then we headed home and snuggled up for the evening.

Still loving Larry!

Sunday we went to Jack's Great Nana's house for a family get together, Jack was on his best behaviour and we celebrated his cousin Katie's birthday.

Taken by one of my cousins :-)

Best thing this week:
The best thing this week was the family day at the zoo. Amazing.

Mummy's thoughts & diary:
This was one of the best weeks we have ever had. It was so nice being together and going out and about. Not many hours spent on the breast pump and now it has finally been put away and the breast milk supply from the fridge has finally been finished. It is bittersweet but I know it is for the best. He is so much better on formula and he's had a fair amount of breast milk!

I now just need to stop feeding from me but I think it will be a long, gradual process as I still enjoy feeding him in the mornings in bed when we snuggle together. I'm not sure what I'd do if I didn't feed him from me, if he would settle or if I'd need to give him a bottle. Time will tell!!!
