The Growth Scan

So today I went for my growth scan as requested by the midwife due to dodgy measurements.

Appointment was at 1pm and as that was a dodgy time in the middle of the day it would have been difficult for my husband to have got time off work to come with me so I asked my Mum to come with me. She was very excited!

So due to previous experience of parking at the hospital I made sure we left mega early so we could get a space & then have enough time for my slow hobble/shuffle from the car to the Ultrasound dept.

We did get there very early, and of course managed to get a parking space immediately! So I did the hobble/shuffle to the main entrance of the hospital (longest I have walked in over a week!) We stopped there to have a cup of tea. Then we hobble/shuffled to the Ultrasound dept. We booked in at the window and I asked the lady if I needed a full bladder for a scan at this stage. She told me to hang on if I could. So I did. Was told to take a seat in the waiting area.

The waiting area was empty when we arrived and it was super hot in there. I began to melt and was annoyed that I was so early! The waiting room slowly filled up with lots of bumps, such a variety of people it was mad. I am sure I represented normal for today (hahaha).

The waiting room got hotter and hotter, and one by one the ladies got called through. I began to get very irritated as I was wondering why I hadn't been called through and the whole waiting room had turned over. The last straw was when someone shut the window!!!! I was already melting! Mum went to the desk (we had sat there for 50mins) and they said we hadn't booked in!!!!! Mum explained that we had booked in and had a whole conversation about hanging on for the toilet. (Which I still was!!!)

Eventually they called me in and made it like they were doing me a favour!!! I was so mad!!!

But then it all melted away when I saw my baby! It was so big I couldn't even believe it. She did some measurements and I panicked because I still didn't want to find out the sex of the baby. She said that would not be a problem because at this stage it was difficult to see as there's not a lot of space in there for baby to reveal all if you like. So that was good. The scan was pretty quick and she measured around baby's tummy, head and femur. Everything was perfect and I was sent on my way. We managed to get a quick pic of baby before we went and they gave it to me for free because of the misunderstanding.

Here is the pic :-)
