The pain became to much for even me to bear. 5th day of pain and could barely cope with it at work.
So many people told me it was time to go and look after myself and my baby so I agreed with them. I am seeing the midwife on Wednesday so I figured I would stay home tomorrow (Tue) and see her Wednesday and see what she says. However by the time I'd made it to the car I'd reached the point of despair.
I called the midwife and she didn't answer so I called the surgery to see if it was possible to see a GP today or tomorrow. When I told her I was pregnant and in pain she couldn't do more to help me but panicked slightly and said I should maybe phone the hospital. I told her the pain wasn't anything to do with the baby, but me and she breathed a sigh of relief and offered me an appointment for 16:20, which was half an hour away!
I told hubby and as we were still near work it was about a half an hour drive away. So... we made it just in time and I went in. Didn't have to wait for too long and when the GP called me through I made the walk to his room, trying not to cry. He said I seemed very uncomfortable. I told him yes I was. I felt like crying by this point.
Told him the story of how suddenly the pain came on (see week 30). Told him how I was struggling to walk, how I'd tested my urine and nothing & how it was getting hard to manage at work and home.
He asked me to get on the couch (which hurt like hell!) and poked and prodded me, not sure why! It doesn't hurt to poke! The whole pelvic area is very painful when I raise my legs which he asked me to do and agreed it was a reduced range of movement.
He then asked me to do another urine sample. There were only leucocytes again and he sent it off to the lab. He put me on antibiotics. I protested slightly as I have NO urinary symptoms, and really didn't want to take any tablets while I am pregnant. He said it was best to try and treat it and said to take paracetamol. I said I didn't want to take stuff but he promised me it would all be ok. I asked him if he thinks I have SPD and he said no. That gave me a glimmer of hope. But... hmmm....
Off I went.
Home and the midwife called me back. I told her all about my doctors appointment and she was really lovely and felt the same as me that it probably wasn't a UTI, something more to it but probably best to take the antibiotics just in case.
I had a good chat with her, she told me to rest on Tuesday, come see her on Wednesday and she would assess me further. So there we go.
I have told my boss I am off sick for 2 days at least. Grrrrrrrrrr.
I didn't want it to come to this & didn't want tablets. Double fail!!!
Until Wednesday... I'm off to lie down!
