Holiday!

Well where do I start?

I am now back from my holiday in Gran Canaria! It was a lovely holiday, the weather was 28 degrees every day. Not a cloud in the sky and it was just beautiful. I did a lot on this holiday, and none of it I would have done a year ago today.

I went to Gran Canaria approximately 3 and a half years ago. I loved every minute of it then and I always wanted to return. So this year I decided to make it the year I returned. Now, as many of you may remember from my blog post from my birthday - I love country & western anything! So of course, on the list of things to do was visit the Country & Western theme park called Sioux City! (More on that later!).

Anyway, I did not manage to lose enough to make it to goal before holiday! I only had 0.8lb to go before I left the UK but, my biggest bug bear of the past week - was that I had to miss a weigh in!!!! Of course, after much advice from the lovely people on the 5+ board, I was discouraged from taking my scales with me - in the fear that they might get broken on the way! As I'd been before, I knew that there were scales everywhere, for some reason they have them on the streets everywhere, but I was determined to avoid them at all costs as I didn't know how they'd compare to my own scales. Plus you had to pay 50 cents each time! I didn't want to start that!

So dear people, I did not step on the scales the whole time I was gone... and it felt very very weird. It was very strange not knowing what my weight was doing. But there was nothing I could do about that! Next weigh in is on Christmas Eve... will be a nice Christmas present for me to get to goal - I hope my sneak peek stays ;-)

On this holiday I did lots of salad eating. Basically we ate out every single day, twice a day, only eating breakfast at home every day. Each and every restaurant we went to I'd order a "Mixed Salad" which consisted of tomato, lettuce, onion, cucumber, sometimes a hard boiled egg, sometimes sweetcorn and sometimes tuna (yuk!) that got picked off the plate each and every time! I bought some light mayo & it travelled in my bag to each and every place we ate so I could sneak it on my plate. Occasionally I had a bit of grilled chicken breast - yum! (But only if I trusted the place hehe). I made the rest of my points up in snacks through the day etc...

Still ever so proud to say that I have stuck to my New Years resolution and as of today 353 days on the wagon! I still amaze myself that I have never gone a point over my allowance.

Anyway, this is going to have to be a small series of blogs as I want to share some pictures with you.

Stay tuned ;-)

Picture number one... ahhh beautiful temperature! This was taken yesterday morning - can't believe I am home and wrapped up in my fleece pj's!
