Holiday #1 - Getting back on the horse!

"Get back on the horse!"

Well my weight watching buddies, this is exactly what I had planned to do. As some of you know, but many of you don't, I am a very keen horse rider. I rode very often at the beginning of my life, from the ages of 4 to 13. It tailed off a little then, because we moved from the family home, to another house, which was quite far away from the riding school to which I belonged. Also, I was getting too big for the ponies, so I had to move up to the senior school - which meant big horses, and leaving my friends behind.

My love for horses never went away and I did not ride for a long, long time. It was during this period of my life that I gained a lot of weight. Honestly, I weighed my age right up until I was 18 years old. Yep, each year I'd gain a stone, just to be the same weight as my age was. No, I didn't plan it, but recently my Mum has told me that when I was 3 years old, I was 3ft 3 and 3 stone. From there it continued. Every year.

So of course when I was 18 I was rather large. It when around this time when all of my weight watching began. I joined a meeting and left a meeting over and over again. I don't think I was ready - I was with this boyfriend and all we did was eat. He didn't gain weight though. Anyway thankfully that relationship ended and I was alone. So when I was 21 I joined weight watchers. This time, with no distraction, I did it properly! I was 17st 5 when I joined in the August of 2005 and 13st 4 when I stopped in the April of 2006. I thought I looked amazing, I thought I was good. But looking back now - those are still "before" pics.

Anyway... in 2006 I met my now boyfriend, as I'd lost the weight and was happy at 13st 4 I got back to riding. For six months I went many times a week and even loaned a horse. But the horse had to move to another yard so I stopped going. I rode on my previous visit to Gran Canaria in 2008 but if memory serves I was around 14st 2 then. Poor horse!

Now... fast forward to December 2010... I find myself back up at 16stone 12.2lbs and desperately unhappy. I say to myself, and everyone around me I am going to lose weight next year. Everyone rolled their eyes as they'd heard it all before. I knew it would be different.

So folks, here I am... December 2011 - BACK ON THE HORSE :-D It was also at my favourite theme park - Sioux City! So this time, I was confident, dressed for the occasion, and even asked a cowboy to pose in my picture with me! Honestly guys, that night I was in my element!!!! But more on that to come! ;-)
