Photo of the week:
Age:
Today my baby is 17 weeks and 6 days old!
Size:
No measurements done this week, but today he wore one of my favourite outfits on him and it was exactly the right size for him. 0-3months still fit! Here is is wearing it at 7 weeks and 17 weeks!
Appearance:
Hasn't changed much in the looks department this week!
Milestones:
No major milestones met this week, however I've noticed a significant increase in motor skills which is good, toys are being held a lot better and of course go straight in the mouth, however he's still not reaching for things.
Still no rolls from front to back or back to front. Can still get onto side but then ends up getting very frustrated. Jack is really strong with his neck now and can hold up really well when placed on his tummy!
Things we did this week:
This week we started off with an early Monday morning and went swimming! We went with our friends that we have never been with before and did the wary week session of Aqua babies. There I was expecting the same lady as on Thursday swimming session but it was not to be and the class was crap! No exercise gotten for me that day!
Tuesday we went to baby group in the morning and had a play there. It was nice that people we knew were there this week unlike last week. We all sat and had lunch together and my friend that is expecting her baby this week came and had her last lunch with us before baby!
On Tuesday afternoon we had to leave baby group and go for the third set of immunisations. As Jack is lucky enough to have been born at the right time this year he had to have his Meningitis jab also. Unfortunately this meant he needed to have 3 injections today! The nurse advised to give 3 doses of calpol to prevent/treat any fever and to keep an eye on him. After the last 2 sets of jabs Jack slept very well but he wasn't himself after these ones, very irritable and restless. He did go flushed at times and was running a low her made fever. He wasn't very happy at all.
On Wednesday me and my friend went shopping and went out for lunch. It was fine at the time and both of our boys were beautifully behaved. I got Jack some cute GAP hoodies in size 6-12 months so he can wear them over winter. They are too cute! I also got him my new favourite baby gro! I got one in every size!
When we got home he was definitely unhappy and cried. A lot. I think he was in pain with his injection site so I gave another dose of calpol, after which he settled.
Thursday was no swimming in the morning (didn't want to risk it!) but then we went for a lovely walk in the park and then onto the library for baby rhyme time. It was so cute, he really seemed to enjoy it this week! I got into it a bit more too.
Friday we met up with our friends again and totally got caught in the rain!
We then decided to dodge the rain and go for coffee but we ended up in the library! It was actually such a nice idea and will definitely go there again! I read a story to Jack and we looked at some books, the boys chilled out on the library rug and dribbled on some books (oops)

After that luckily the rain went and I went for a few miles around the park with a sleeping, happy, settled baby! Phew!

Saturday we went on a day out with Oliver & his Mum (Nanny) and it was a lovely day. The sun shone and Jack was a very good boy!

Today we chilled at home, went for a walk round the park and to the shop and then chilled some more. Perfect Sunday!
Best thing this week:
Highlight of the week this week was definitely the unexpected, unplanned visit to the library!
Mummy's thoughts & diary:
This week was a good week. I had been worried about baby having his jabs this week so kept Wednesday, Thursday and Friday free, but thanks to great new friends I was still able to get out and about on very little notice.
I think we are doing great as a unit and I really do know what he wants 99% of the time. We have really got to know each other well and his little face does light up when he sees me, which makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time. I love that little face so much.
There was only one difficult point this week where he was crying so much it broke my heart and I didn't know what was wrong. I managed to stop him somehow by breastfeeding and then he fell asleep. Magic.
Speaking of breastfeeding, I decided today that I am going to decrease my supply and let it gradually come to an end. I feel now is an ok time to stop. We are starting to get a better routine at night and if I am honest if I give a bottle in the night he sleeps a lot better than if he has breast milk & also enables me to put him back in the Moses basket and I get my bed back! Of course I bring him into bed for cuddles in the morning (and a cheeky extra hour of sleep) but I do think it's time he slept in his own space. He is definitely getting too big for the basket so I am looking into getting him a sleepy head for his cot. I really want to stop having to express as 40min in the mornings and evenings is getting too irritating. It's making getting out of the house a long process and my breast milk doesn't sustain or satisfy him for long. He has had 4 months of breast milk & will be introducing solids in 2 months so I am happy with how long I lasted. Breastfeeding was not for me and looking back I wish I'd stopped earlier as we would have enjoyed each other so much more.
