The First Year: Week 9

Blogging baby's first year, the milestones, the good, the bad & the ugly! Our journey together from birth to one!

Photo of the week:
9 weeks today!

Age:
Today Jack is 9 weeks & 6 days old!

Size:
At our doctors appointment this week Jack weighed 10lb 1oz. His weight gain wasn't as much as I had anticipated and felt a little odd about it. I had guessed he would be around 10lb 8oz or above. The doctor didn't seem concerned!

Appearance:
Birthmark still visible, eyes still blue (really hope they stay blue!) this week has definitely perfected the sad lip!

Milestones:
This week we reached a very important milestone... First immunisations!

We also found our first Geocache! Haven't been geocaching since before I got pregnant so this was no. 491.. Baby's first :-) proud moment!

Things we did this week:
In the life of Mummy and Jack this week was quiet! This "growth spurt" has been really challenging & I'm still not enjoying it!

Looking gorgeous

This week we did go to baby group, which oddly Jack managed to sleep through (after crying obviously!) Ethan was not impressed in Jack but still posed for a photo beautifully!

Sleeping through baby group!

We also went to the pub for lunch with my friend! Jack was a good boy and actually slept and let me eat a hot meal for the first time in a while! Could it be this growth spurt is coming to an end!?

We had a trip to the doctor this week. It was more traumatic for me than it was for Jack as we had to attend for his 8 week check (yep, even though he is 9 weeks!) and for his first immunisations.

The doctor did the check first and everything was fine, no cause for concern. We then went into the nurse and there were two of them! He had to have drops in his mouth first, which they tell me taste of cherry bakewell. He seemed to like that which was good. They then sat him on my lap facing me and I had to lay him down and hold his legs. They then jabbed him at the same time one in each leg. He was already crying (because the doctor upset him) and when the jabs went in he stopped. Pulled the saddest face ever and then screamed. I was blinking back tears myself and they put me in a room to calm him down. It was heartbreaking! Seeing the tiny person you created hurting actually rips your heart out.

We came home and he slept on Daddy for a while & then had a feed and we went to bed. That night he slept for 5 hours! (the most hours in a row ever... Since birth!)

We have also been to Nanny's this week and had dinner there.

Best thing this week:
Hanging out with the bestie is always the best thing in the week :-)

Mummy's thoughts & diary!
And it was another hard week in this house! Growth spurt or whatever this is needs to go!

Breastfeeding is no fun during one of these it is constant and just when you think he's finished, he wants more!

Absolutely draining but I know it's best for him! Very tempted to express so I can get a break! But the thought of sterilising etc... It's enough to make me carry on the breastfeeding.

But worried about the weight gain seeing as it's two weeks worth of gain. The other kids we know seem to be gaining more in a week! I know we can't compare and shouldn't compare so we won't, but it's playing on my mind a bit. Will get him weighed at clinic next week to check.

Cannot even believe that tomorrow my baby boy will be 10 weeks old! Double digits now!

What an exciting week it will be! My Mum is getting married! :-)
