Chilling with Mummy at Home
First go in my bouncer!

Best thing this week:
Being at home, spending time just the 3 of us!

Mummy's thoughts & diary:
So this morning we had a visit from the breastfeeding support worker who I had asked to come & help with the breastfeeding. Last night I had been washing up all the bits for the steriliser and the nipple shield we had tried were in there. As I tried to clean it the shield split into 2 and revealed that it was in face 2 nipple shields stuck together! So when my poor baby tried nipple shields before and failed it's because it was double thickness.

I asked the support worker if we should try again with them to try and get him to latch as I had still been expressing and formula feeding via bottle. She was gobsmacked that there had been 2 shields stuck together and agreed we should try it. Luckily Jack was hungry!

He latched on with the nipple shield immediately and stayed on there feeding beautifully for 30 whole minutes, which was amazing after reviewing Jack's feeding diary seeing his latches so far had been 2/3 sucks at a time. So hard. Breastfeeding is so NOT what I expected, it's actually very stressful and requires a lot of patience and effort.

She told me to keep trying with that and she's going to call me in a few days to see how we are doing! I was very excited for the next feed to try however we had a midwife appointment to attend.

The midwife was happy with Jack, his colour & weight gain & discharged him from their care. I now just have the health visitors to see me & I am to go to baby clinic on a Tuesday morning to get him weighed.

I came home after that very happy. At feeding time I tried again & hooray he latched on again! Absolutely amazing! I have everything crossed that this is his last bottle!

Until next week....
