The First Year: Week 3

Photo of the week:

3 weeks today!

Age:
Jack is 3 weeks and 6 days old today!

At baby clinic this week Jack weighed 7lb 10oz! Gaining weight wonderfully which is great news!

Appearance:
Getting cuter every day. Still looks just like Daddy! More and more every day!

Milestones:
• Attended first baby group
• First outing to park with Mummy
• First outing to park with Ethan
• First Race for Life!
• First call for the doctor!

Things we did this week:
This week Jack and Mummy went to the park for a walk on our own!

First trip to the park alone!

We stayed at home quite a lot this week as I've had a bad back. Trying to get the pain under control but it's not the best!

We also went to baby group and baby clinic for the first time! It was a bit odd as the lady that usually runs it was off today so I didn't choose the best week to go, however will go next week and see how it is. Met another girl there from antenatal class but she knew a lot of the people already. See how we go!

We also met up for the first time with Jack's new best friend Ethan! Me and his Mum met at Antenatal (she was the one I clocked that I wanted to be friends with) and we get on so well. We went for a walk in the park, it was lovely!

Jack & his new friend meet in the park :-)

Best thing this week:
The best thing we did this week was the Race for Life!!

As the family does it every year I felt I didn't want to miss out this year. I always knew I was going to be pregnant/just given birth so wasn't going to enter this year but of course I wasn't expecting baby to be so early! I signed up for this a week before and decided to walk it with the family.

It was not easy with the back pain/pelvic pain and it took me the longest ever but I did it! I was lucky enough that Oliver met us near the end and gave me Jack so I was able to cross the finish line with him in my arms! He even had his own little t shirt with his name on :-)

That was my 6th race for life in a row, done in memory of my Grandad every year. Long may it continue!

Race for Life 2015

Mummy's thoughts & diary!
So all in all this week was lovely.

Starting to get a little bit more social! Getting more daring leaving the house.

Was absolutely gutted at the Race for Life that Jack couldn't hold on long enough and had to have a bottle of formula. We had been doing so well with the breastfeeding but needs must. Am going to try and make that the last bottle of formula ever!

My back is killing me... Think I have some kind of sciatica. Downloaded some stretches from the NHS website and trying to work through the pain with the walks in the park etc...

Yesterday we had a nightmare with Jack! He was uncontrollably screaming and would not settle for love nor money. He was crying, unable to put him down and wanted to feed constantly!

In the end I called NHS out of hours for help as I didn't know what to do. The doctor eventually called back and said he may be constipated and to do certain tummy messages etc... He told me to let him feed as much as he wants so I did and with help of the trusty nipple shields he fed and fed and fed. Oliver eventually got him to sleep and we dashed to bed and hoped for the best. Thankfully the night was fine and we were back to normal the next day!

Can't believe my baby is 4 weeks tomorrow!
