Visiting Distant Family

Today we visited some distant family that live in Kent. The family are my Grandad's cousin, his wife, their two girls Kim & Tina & their partners Kevin & Neil and children - Rachel (3) & Amy (1)

The View From The House
We only see them very rarely so it was lovely to be asked to go and spend the day. Kim and Kevin have just moved into a house there so we were invited for pie and mash. It was a really lovely cottage with a view to die for! She is a lucky girl! I was super jealous of her stables out the back... yep it was that nice.

When Tina & family arrived it was really weird to me that this is the first time since I've been pregnant that I've been around children! The family knew that I was expecting but didn't realise that I was 18 weeks and for some reason thought I was 8 weeks. Once that was cleared up they were really happy and non stop talk about babies!

We went for a walk and I played with the girls on their bikes. It was quite funny as even though they are sisters, they are really completely different. One is blonde haired, blue eyed, one is  dark hair dark eyed and looks like her oriental roots. Made me wonder what mine will look like.

Sisters

Today was the first day that I was given any baby "stuff".

This made it all a little more real! When Tina realised I was past the 12 week mark, she was more than happy to give me some baby stuff. As it was unlikely that we would be seeing them again before the baby is born we popped back to her house and she went into the loft and got down some stuff for me.

I was very happy to receive her maternity clothes which were in my size! And she passed down a moses basket, multiple baby baths, a moses basket stand & a pile of baby clothes. We then sat down and sorted through the clothes and took out all of the girly pinks and patterns and I was left only with neutral. It was really amazing to be given all of this stuff & has made me super excited about our new arrival and I can't wait to buy something myself! :-)
Me & Amy

As we were leaving the strangest thing happened. I was just putting my coat on to go and the little one year old came and hugged my leg. So I picked her up and she snuggled into me so tight. I thought it was super cute but had to get ready to go so I tried to give her to her Nana. She refused to go to her and held onto me! So I tried to give her to her Auntie Kim, which didn't work either. She cried and reached back for me... bear in mind this is the first time I've seen her! She then came back to me and the family came all of the way back to the car with us to say goodbye. I then gave her to her Mum and she gripped me and cried until we had left! It was the strangest thing ever, because usually she only wants her Mum! It was lovely though. Had a lovely day :-)
