Midwife Appointment (16 Week Check)

If you have read my previous posts you will know how much of a joy going to see my midwife has become. Last time I was smart enough to book this appointment for as early as possible. I managed 9:15am.

I braced myself for a really long wait and tried to make sure my blood pressure wasn't on the up.

16 weeks and 1 day pregnant. Still no bump. Nearly fell off my chair when she called me in on time.

It was the midwife that I had seen last time, she was this time on her own without the senior midwife and now I was certain who is to blame for the long waits. (Fingers crossed I have this midwife more often!!!).

So she did my blood pressure 110/70 (fab!) and asked me if any concerns. I did mention the one spot of blood to her as I thought I'd better keep her informed and she said I could have called the Early Pregnancy Unit. I told her that I didn't know their number and she wrote it on my notes and told me to call them if any further issues.

She checked my blood results with the lab (which she had to do by phone - almost had to bleed me again!) Grrrr.

So all of that came back fine :-) Blood Group - O Positive - Knew that already anyway, Immune to Rubella, Hepatitis, Syphilis & HIV Negative, Hb 14.3 and the urine test was Negative too. Wonderful.

She dipped my new urine sample - Negative. Phew.

Then she lay me down on the bed - I got excited I thought we were going to listen to baby's heartbeat.

She checked my fundal height, said it was deep still - I can't really feel it but have been poking around to try. She said all was fine and within 15min I was on my merry way to work.

I now have 9 glorious midwife free weeks. Hopefully I can lose some weight. She did not mention my weight but I am paranoid about Gestational Diabetes now. Also having to have Glucose Tolerance Tests. Something I did wish to avoid but I guess if I need to have it I will have to have it.

So next stop is 20 week scan & then next Midwife Appointment will be at 25 weeks on the 18.02.15 - where I will receive my MatB1 form. I can then book my maternity leave! WooHoo!
