Starlight Walk 2012

Me & my cousin before the walk
The Starlight Walk was my biggest event of the year so far. It is a 13 mile (half marathon) walk and it is for women only. It supports the Peace Hospice, which is where my Grandad passed away, so it is a local charity very close to my heart.

Another reason why it is close to my heart is because I have helped promote this walk by being interviewed several times for various local papers & the Peace Hospice Website. You can see my 3 articles here:

Anyway,

The Starlight Walk 2012 took place on Saturday 23 June 2012. It was a rainy night and about 1,400 women took part. Last year I found the walk rather difficult, but my friend and her Mum set a good pace and kept me going. I had a bad foot and only remembered that when reading last year's blog! We did it last year in 3h 32m and I wanted to beat that time.

Before the rain set in!
At the end with our medals! Wet and cold
but happy and proud!
This year I was in full fitness & at goal weight. I found the walk a lot easier, and I would have done it quicker but I was completely and utterly in pain! You see... I treated myself to 12PP of cake before the walk and my tummy obviously decided that it didn't like it. That and a mix of my poor cousin who I did it with being exhausted, the rain and the cold we finished after 3h and 50m. Not bad for a 14yr old in those conditions! She did really well and I was so proud of her, and to be doing it with her. Grandad would have been super proud!

Between me and my cousin we raised almost £200 for the hospice, so that was really good. Was just a shame about the rain!

Fantastic night & can't wait until next year!
