The Race for Life 2012

Finally I have moved my blog completely over here so now I can put in more photos, more posts & share with more people!

So, on Sunday 17 June I gathered the family around for another Race for life event. We did it last year and it was my very first run. I did it in 44mins and was very proud of that! The year before I walked it (at 17st) and it took me 1hr 4mins. This year I aimed to do it in 34mins...
Before the race!

We do this event every year to remember my Grandad Rex, who died at the end of 2009. He would have been so proud of me losing all my weight, I am so gutted that he can't see me now. Over the years less and less of the family are taking part (one year we had 12 people!) But this year it was 5 of us. Thankfully the weather held out and we didn't get rained on! Hurrah!

Crossing the finish line!
When the race started me and my Mum went to the front to be with the runners! Ha, never thought I'd be there! With 2 10k races under my belt, I was feeling very confident that I could do this and that I would be able to make it in my target time of 34mins. We started off nice and slow and kept a nice pace. At about 2km my Mum started having trouble and she said I could go ahead. I did not expect this to happen!

I went on and did the race, I managed to do it 33min 07sec, so I was VERY pleased with that time! Here is a comparison photo of me in 2010 and 2012 Race for Life... I know which one I prefer! :-)
