The First Year: Week 13

I'm Blogging baby's first year, the milestones, the good, the bad & the ugly! Our journey together from birth to one!

Photo of the week:

13 weeks today!

Age:
Today Jack is 13 weeks 6 days old!

Size:
We didn't go to weigh in this week as the health advisor asked us to attend 2 weeks after the previous weigh in. We are going to the health clinic in 2 days so I'm sure we will see an epic (hope not too much!) weight gain then!

We did however measure Jack today and he was approx 62cm long! (Lots of wiggling was going on!)

Appearance:
A few people are now saying that he is starting to look a bit more like me now. I can see it sometimes and I can see Oliver more often, but Oliver says he now looks like Jack. He's finally turning into a little person with personality! It's so amazing watching him grow and learn new things every day!

Milestones:
Developmental milestones are coming very soon, he's now way more interested in toys than ever before and often tries to touch and hold things. Will be keeping my eye (and camera) out for that first roll!

He's definitely laughing more now, particularly at songs!

May have been singing baby got back

• First seat in a bumbo chair! (Cuteness overload!)

• First play with a Rubik's cube! (If you know his daddy you'll get this!)

• First time (and what a miracle!) falling asleep on the playmat while playing!
(We ate dinner at the same time because of this!!! And it was a hot meal!)

Chilling on the mat!

• Getting better at tummy time & looking so cute whilst doing it!

Things we did this week:
This week started off with a visit from a friend I used to work with. Jack was a very lucky boy and got some lovely presents from her and we went for a walk  in the park. We then went to the swimming pool to meet the old Aqua natal girls & see Maureen, the midwife that looked after me throughout my whole pregnancy. It was quite special for Jack to be in her arms, shame she didn't get to deliver me!

Midwife Maureen

Tuesday we went to meet his baby friends at a friends house as baby group is closed for summer! His bestie was away early this week which is why he's not in the photo but we see him later!

Baby Club

Tuesday afternoon was a trip to the doctors surgery for 2nd course of immunisations. It was not half as bad as the time before and Jack smiled at the nurses before (and after the jabs!) well he cried for about 5 seconds before he realised he was actually ok! I was so happy! Then he slept.... :-)

So Wednesday was physio for me and Jack stayed and played with his bestie while I went! He was a very good boy and basically fell asleep! For the moment I was there he really lifted his head up for a photo. So cute when he has a neck!

Besties Reunited

He was still pretty knocked out after the jabs so we had a nice relaxing afternoon at home.

Laughing in his sleep

Thursday was a trip to his Nana's house where we went to the U.S. Base shopping and we tried a shopping trolley again! This time it wasn't as bad! (Loving the one sock look!)

That day was nice we went to various shops and had some down time.

Friday we met up with the bestie again and the boys had fun :-)

Best thing this week:
Return of the bestie!!!!!!!

Mummy's thoughts & Diary:
This was our second week of mixed feeding and I have to say it's going well. Had a really nice week this week and Jack has been sleeping much better at night (apart from 1 night where I had about 1.5 hours sleep in total!) he's also started to be able to settle himself in the Moses basket and go to sleep. He doesn't stay in there all night long but he does a couple of hours, which is an improvement from the past!

The hardest part of this week has been when Jack refused my breast in the night. I was kind of enjoying that I still could feed him overnight. But he's refused it a few nights in a row. I've had to get up and fully wake up to do bottles, though I have them ready here it's just not the same. He did feed from me last night so I guess I will keep trying. I am still expressing and he's having around 2 bottles of my milk a day. But it doesn't keep him going as long as formula, 2 hours maximum! Will see how long I can keep it up for!

I also saw the physiotherapist again this week about my pelvis. Though it has been feeling much better, I still get the burning pain, sometimes in the night and sometimes first thing in the morning. I explained everything to her and she pushed on it pulled it apart and pushed it back together. She said it is unlikely that I have any lasting damage as I would be in pain and not have the power I do. She advised me that I should not run or exercise and gave me some core exercises to do. I have no muscle tone on the right side of my pelvis & she was a bit shocked by how different the left and right sides were! I am to go back and see her in 4 weeks!
