Hello everyone,
Well as you know it has been a really long time since my last blog and I must admit, a lot has happened. So I think I will be doing a few blogs within the next hour or two… we have a lot to catch up on!
So as I left you, I had just been to the London Marathon and was heading to Paris! Well here is how that went…
We arrived in Paris at 10:00am on the 25th of April, it was our 6th anniversary so we decided to take a trip away. I chose Paris as I had never been and wanted to see the sights etc… When we arrived, it was the most miserable weather and it was freezing cold. We got to our hotel and dropped our bag off, it was then we were told that we could not check in until 3pm! Fun times. Homeless and nowhere to go… for hours!
We decided to go for a walk to the Arc De Triomphe as this was close to our hotel. When we got there it was just pouring with rain so we hid underground for a minute. Not knowing what to do/where to go we then decided to go and find a shop to hide in! We went down the Champs-Elysees & walked whilst ducking in and out of shops to try and keep dry. Found a Starbucks, had a cuppa and warmed up… it was only 12pm and still 3 hours to kill! So we went up the other side of the street, got completely soaked, found a restaurant and had lunch. I had a plate of vegetables with ketchup. Perfect. At 2:30pm we went back to the hotel & they let us check in early! Hurrah! As we had been up since 3am we went straight to bed. I was really cold, tired & miserable, my feet were like ice blocks and my new trainers were soaked through. Seriously when I booked that trip I had imagined sunshine! Silly me!
When we woke up at 6pm (oops!) it was like we had woken up in a different day. The evening sun was out and there were blue skies. My poor feet were still cold when I woke up but luckily I had bought a spare pair of shoes with me. So I suggested we go for a walk and out to dinner. So we found a restaurant called the Hippopotamus. It was kind of a grill and steak house type thing, a bit similar to TGI Fridays. I had the grilled chicken with salad. Easy peasy! Fruit salad for pudding… but they gave me grapefruit (gross!). At the dinner table we were looking on my phone where to go and what to do, I came up with this idea of going to find the Eiffel Tower with a plan to climb up it the next day. My boyfriend agreed and we set off on a walk to find the Eiffel Tower. It wasn’t a short walk (none of the walks in Paris were short) and we eventually found it. It was a weird feeling actually being there, have seen it so many times on TV etc… for some reason I thought it was silver, but it was brown. How bizarre. It was the size I thought it would be, not bigger. As we were there and the sky was blue, I suggested we go up now as the weather for tomorrow was unpredictable! Boyfriend obliged and I made him walk up the stairs!!! (haha)
We got to the first floor and he was huffing and puffing and needing a sit down. I hadn’t even gone short of breath and was ready to go up to the next level. (thanks Jillian!). He was sitting down and I was taking pictures of the view. He then started to look at the views too and called me over to ask me what something was… or so I thought! The next thing I knew, he was down on one knee, telling me how wonderful I am and asking me to marry him! He pulled out a ring and everything. I mean, I was so amazed. It was totally unexpected and I never thought it would actually happen to me! Basically I just cried! Then I phoned my Mum and my Nana and they cried too. Then for the rest of the evening, I stared at my hand! The picture on this blog is just after the moment, we had a beautiful sunset on the Eiffel Tower! Was a great way to end the day & celebrate our 6th Anniversary together!
