The Day We Told The Family!

Today was the day I could finally get the family together to share our news.

This day had been planned and unplanned and planned again. It proved impossible to get everyone together to tell them as of course we could not give a great reason as to why we should meet up! It couldn't be done on a Sunday either so one auntie and one cousin were working. One cousin was at a sleepover, one was working in Ireland and thankfully the rest of the family were able to come. I had really wanted to do this face to face!

Given my track record of not being able to tell people that I am pregnant, or taking hours about it anyway, my Nan said she would do the honours. I was soooo nervous! She didn't hang about either!

As soon as everyone had arrived and settled in my Nan declared that she had not had a drink of alcohol for 4 weeks (the whole month of November!). Everyone clapped and wished her well. She interrupted them by holding a drink up and saying "But today I am going to have a drink, because I am celebrating that I am going to be a Great Grandmother!" Everyone went silent, looked around the room and then everyone started yelling!!! Kirrrrrsstttyyyyyy!!!!! Haha, it was so funny. It took a while for the news to settle in! Then the excitement built up! The room was buzzing, lots of hugs and kisses flying around, and I showed the photos to everyone.

I don't think anyone could quite believe it, but everyone was just so happy. I was enjoying this so much but wanted to tell a few more people, such as my Mum's best friend and her daughter and also the 2 missing cousins and 1 missing aunt. The aunt was due home from work later that evening but 1 cousin was at a sleepover. The other was finishing work so I asked her sister to come with me and we could wait by her car as she came out of work and tell her. In the meantime I called my cousin in Ireland and she was absolutely elated. It reminded me of the time I called her to tell her that Oliver had proposed. She screamed the theatre down that she was working in. This time it was a coffee shop and she literally told the whole coffee shop I was having a baby. It was magical even though I couldn't see her. I sent her the scan pics and she was as amazed as me ;-)

In the end Oliver, Mum, My Cousin Meg and Me went for a little drive. Meg looked after the baby photos for me and we went to tell my cousin Amelia. We pounced on her and just waved the photo in front of her eyes. I will never forget her face. That smile! It was amazing.

We then went to my Mum's best friend as she was local and by sheer luck her daughter was there too. We told them the news and had a nice little giggle. It all feels very surreal. Back to my Nan's house then to await the arrival of Auntie. She arrived quite late and we told her the news. She screamed and cried (knew she would that's why I had to tell her in person) and it was just lovely. Last but not least I called the littlest one on the phone and the family all knew.

Happy Days :-) No more secrets!
