Well, after completing the couch to 5 k challenge in the last 10 or so weeks, I was really nervous and excited about running the race for life last Sunday. In my mind I wanted to complete it in 40min and run all of the way. Well, I did run all of the way, but I completed the course in 41mins (even with my sprint at the end). That said, it beat my 1hour 10min walk from last year :-)
I found the course more challenging than I had thought, it was a lot hillier than I remembered and the terrain was a lot more difficult to run on than I had expected. My fault really, I have only done 2 runs on grass in training and so am more used to running on pavement. So every time we ran on a paved bit of path I was really much more comfortable. It was also very difficult to achieve an amazing time because it was hard work dodging the people that just keep stopping in front of you, dodging all of the dog muck in the park and trying to get a huge branch that managed to stick itself to my sock!
I did it with 6 other members of my family and everyone did really well. My auntie and cousin did it in 35min, my Mum did 38 and my Nana did 47min! So proud of everyone!
